Golden Harvest distributed a record-breaking 1,429,501 lbs of grocery product during the month of July, well surpassing the earlier record of 1,268,053 lbs set just in the previous month, June 2010.
“Never in our 28-year history have we seen such a demand for our services,” says GHFB Associate Director Barry Forde. “The summer heat is not the only oppression being faced by our hungry neighbors in Golden Harvest’s 30-county, two-state service area. June & July saw record shattering food distributions – an increase of 21% over the same time period last year! We continue to work at our Mission of Ending Hunger by opening the doors to hope.”
Our Golden Harvest staff sends a big “thanks” to the many supporters who have facilitated these distributions. Without the dedicated network of Partner Agencies, concerned citizens, volunteers, donors and sponsors that our community provides, this work could not be done. Your kindness and generosity are key to our continuing ability to meet the need!
